Soon To Be Crowned JEGS/CRA Champion, Dalton Armstrong To Pull Double-Duty During Winchester 400 Weekend
Posted 8 years ago
Middletown, Indiana (Tuesday, October 6, 2015): JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance Drivers Points Leader, Dalton Armstrong has given his Car Owner and Crew Chief, Scott Neal an early Christmas present after finishing fourth in the last JEGS/CRA race. The New Castle, Indiana driver has not only put himself into a position to merely start the 2015 season finale within the premier template bodied / crate motor tour in the country to clinch the 2015 Drivers Points Champion, the 21-year-old open-wheel graduate also gave Scott Neal Racing the Owners Points Lead going into the final race of the year.

That pivotal event, the Winchester 100 Presented by JEGS.com kicks off the prestigious 44th Running of the Winchester 400 Race Weekend on Friday, October 9th at the famed 1/2 (0.500) mile high-banked paved oval of Winchester Speedway (IN). SNR leads the Bill Burba Motorsports Team by just four markers going into the 100-lap main which serves as the headlining race of Day I of 400 weekend. If Armstrong finishes second in the race, already having the Drivers title in his back pocket, it would also clinch SNR’s second Owners Points Title to go with both crowns Neal picked up with Daniel Hemric in 2012.

“I’m so excited for the JEGS/CRA finale at Winchester this weekend. We have fast cars, a fast driver and a great race team,” Remarked Scott Neal, the veteran Car Owner and Crew Chief who, in addition to his 2012 JEGS/CRA titles with Hemric, was also the 2011 ARCA/CRA Super Series Championship winning Crew Chief for overall champion and rookie of the year, Derrick Griffin. “We have worked so hard all summer to earn enough points to go into Winchester just needing to start the event to win the driver’s championship so now all of our focus is on winning the race and securing that owners title too.” He added.

Neal’s driver, Dalton Armstrong, has already had a career season in 2015. In only his second year of racing full-bodied stock cars, he won the Florida Speedweeks Pro Late Model Championship during the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing in February at New Smyrna Speedway (FL). From there, Armstrong has gone to victory lane twice in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour with his first triumph coming at Springport Motor Speedway (MI) on May 3rd. Then he backed that up with a victory at Auto City Speedway (MI) on August 8th.

With a steady stream of consistency throughout the 2015 campaign, Armstrong has put himself as well as Scott Neal Racing into JEGS/CRA title contention. In addition to his two victories, he has also accumulated four top five finishes and seven top 10 showings as well as one Fast Qualifier award as that came at Columbus Motor Speedway (OH) on May 23rd. “2015 has been a really good year for us. We’ve had some ups and downs, but for the most part it’s been my best year in a racecar.” Offered the New Castle, Indiana standout.

In addition to his JEGS/CRA accomplishments, he has made four ARCA/CRA Super Series starts with the highlights both coming at Berlin Raceway (MI) where he won the Fast Qualifier award for the prestigious Battle at Berlin 251 on June 16th. It was also at Berlin on May 16th where he picked up a season high finish of a seventh.

His fifth ARCA/CRA start will come later in the weekend in the prestigious 44th Running of the Winchester 400. By then, Armstrong hopes to take the green flag for the 400-lap headlining event of the weekend armed with both JEGS/CRA titles in his back pocket. “I think if we can win Friday and then win the Winchester 400 on Sunday, that would be the cherry on top of a great season.” Armstrong ended.

For the Winchester 400 Race Weekend in both the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour and later in the weekend in the ARCA/CRA Super Series, both of Armstrong’s #4 Winfield Solutions / Fords will be sporting additional sponsorship decals and graphics from Baker Crop Insurance as well as Motion Motors, McGunegill Engine Performance, Schoenfeld Headers, PGG Enterprises and M.P.H. Promotions.
